I need to find out when i started this. Still going strong. I made it to the Speedway this morning which according the van odometer it is 2.8 miles round trip. So close to 3!!
I didn't have my Nike Free's and wore my regular Nikes. Not going to make that mistake again. I think I'm just going to sell my regular Nike's on ebay. Still LOVING memorizing scripture while i walk. Almost done with colossians 4. I was close to wanting to skip the end but am finding it VERY encouraging and inspiring. Especially Epaphras. Favorite part of the chapter. I also enjoy the cows though they stink BAD! I need to squeeze in one tomorrow (Sunday) in order to get my 5 times a week quota which I haven't missed since I started. Yay!
I am SOOOOO Looking forward to living in Idaho again. Can;'t wait to see who God will put in my life to love and pray and hold me accountable. God is good all the time, even when it doesn't feel like it.

Ok, the attempt to exercise the family was a flop. I wonder if it really does have to start with me. When i eat veggies, they eat veggies. Well, I've started. I think it's been 4 weeks now. 5 days a week I walk 2-2.5 miles. I love it. The first day, my mind was bored and I walked aimlessly. I decided a path and have stuck to it every day since and I've chosen a mind job. Memorizing scripture. "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly..." "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet". i guess the light of the Word can't guide me if it's turned off, i.e. - sitting closed on the side table. I happen to be greatly in need of light on my path at the moment seemingly more than at other times. I have very blessed by memorizing and now meditating on Colossians 3. Maybe I'll do 4 next then go back and do 1 and 2.

Day 4, I need a new approach. When I used to say, "let's go on a walk" everyone would get so excited thinking it was a fun special thing. Now when I say it they cry "No! I don't want to".
so today, we walked to the pet store and back. We got the mile in without talking about it or anyone knowing we were doing it. I want to look into heart rate monitors.

Day 2, kids went on 1/2 mile walk with 77 year old grandma while hubby and I ate chinese buffet. Then I walked them the 1/2 mile walk home. So, in a lazy way we made it a mile but that is ok because Saturday and Sunday are not "must walks".
Day 3, 8am, I snuck out with 5 and 9 year old before 2 year old woke up. They both cried to bike so I let them. 5 y.o. , who is too scared to even ride his bike with training wheels found that he'd rather walk then ride his tricycle a mile. Even the 9 y.o. by the end said that biking was too hard and she'd rather walk.

The Reece Family attempts exercise. Day 1
Maybe we could be like Julie/Julia only instead of recipes we exercise and work our way up to a marathon. Ha Ha. Ok, maybe a 5k? So, my husband and I love to judge people who let their kids watch tv and play computer games all day. Till I realized, oops, that's us. we've got a 9,5 and 2 year old and we are extremely sedentary. I never thought of myself as lazy. We live next door to a great park/rec center. But the truth is, we are.
So, today starts a new day! Doctor says we should exercise 60 minutes a day. Ya right. None of us are exercisers. My husband and I will car camp and walk the dog but that's the extent of exercise. Today, I told the kids we were going to walk a mile. We could go as slow as we wanted but we were going to do it. All three were crying as we attempted to get the shoes and socks on. It's been a LONG time since we've felt socks and shoes on as crocs and flip flops are our only foot attire. We made it a mile. 22 minutes! The two year old road the second half in the stroller. The 5 year old skipped off the start line and ran for 20 steps, slowed down and cried/screamed the ENTIRE rest of the mile. TRULY cried, out loud, while I dragged him by the hand for the entire 2 and a half times around the track. We slowed to pet a little cocker spaniel and the owner of the dog asked if the 5 year old was scared of dogs because he couldn't stop audibly crying. I said, "nope, he just hates walking". I wonder what all the neighbors thought as they heard our sad kids being forced into a one mile walk. If for no other reason, I write to say, if I can get my family exercising, anybody can. But this is only day one.
p.s. - as soon as I literally dragged my 5 year old across the 1 mile mark, he let go of my hand and took off running. Ugh.
